Cathy Nguyen + Michael Banaag Wedding Highlight Film – The Loft on Pine, Long Beach

Cathy and Michael got hitched at The Loft in Long Beach a couple weeks ago. Check out this highlight film I made of one of the most classic, low-key cool weddings I’ve ever seen, for one of the most classic, low-key, and adorable couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to shoot. You might even recognize a face or two. Enjoy!

Kristin + Matt || Married || Artistic Feature Film

There was a great moment at Kristin and Matt’s reception back in January, where the best man posed a simple question. If Kristin or Matt had changed anyone’s lives for the better, he asked, whether that meant telling a joke or helping a career change or what have you, would they please raise their hands. Of course, it was their wedding, so minus the wait staff, there wasn’t a single unraised arm in the place, but you get the point.

It’s been a while since then, but I am honored to finally get to share their full length wedding film. Even within the few hours we spent together, it was obvious that both Kristin and Matt were just two of the most down to earth and loving people. I only hope their video makes that as obvious to you as it was to everyone else in that room.

Enjoy!

Athena’s 18th Birthday Debut Highlight Film

How do I begin to explain Athena Alberto. Athena Alberto is flawless. She traded her two Fendi purses for a fabulous debut. I hear her hair’s insured for $10,000. One time she met Manny Pacquiao on a plane, and he punched her in the face. Wait.

Jokes aside, I had the pleasure of meeting miss Athena a couple months ago over Korean BBQ, and was blessed to meet one of the sweetest, most gracious 18 year olds ever. Seriously, I can’t count how many times that night she said thank you, not only to us, but to her parents and everyone in attendance. So thank you Athena for letting our team take part in your special day. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your senior year, and happy birthday again!:)

Seyla + Peter || Same Day Edit Wedding Highlight Film

There’s a gorgeous, night-clubby banquet hall in Anaheim that you’d have no idea was there if you were just driving by. It’s literally tucked into the same plaza as a gym, a Subway, and an auto shop, but it’s one of our favorite locations to shoot. Looking back, it feels like the theme of this whole wedding was “hidden gems.” From Seyla’s lavish Vera Wang gown (hidden in its white carrying bag), to the couple’s handwritten messages in the bottle, to the lovely ceremony at the Japanese gardens, and finally, to the posh reception at Mon Amour, each part of the day felt like its own little oyster. Tucked behind a nondescript shell, but opening up to reveal the most beautiful insides.

All right, that was goofy as heck, but you get the point.

Any who, this was our second same day edit of the year, my first same day edit on my own. The downside of SDEs is that you don’t get to spend a lot of time getting to know the couple, but it was great getting to sort of re-experience everything as I looked through the files. I’m also super proud of my team for their great work. We pulled out all the stops for this one — slow-mos, blurry macros, silhouettes, and more. Hands down, some of the best, most creative, most meticulous work we’ve ever done. Hope you guys like it too.

Nina + Steven || Same Day Wedding Highlight Film

Last weekend marked our first same day edit of 2015, and I have to admit it was an adventure. Luckily, Nina and Steven gave us plenty of material to work with, with a full 16 hour day including a Vietnamese tea ceremony, first look, American wedding ceremony, and lavish reception. Hopefully this SDE provides some sense of the fun, beauty, and craziness of the day. Please enjoy!

Katrina + Chris || Married || Wedding Highlight Film

It’s officially been a week since Katrina and Chris’s wedding last weekend, and the lovely newlyweds are currently in the Maldives making all of their Facebook friends jealous with pictures of crystal blue waters and private beach bungalows. Luckily the rest of us have their wedding video as consolation.:P

Kat and Chris got married last Saturday in one of the most beautiful wedding days we’ve seen, filled with great energy, amazing decor, and more tears than any videographer could ever dream to have. Seriously, you guys made our jobs too easy. Hope you find your highlight video as beautiful as your wedding and honeymoon! This is also officially my third video in attempts to break free from the videography mold that has caught the industry. Hope you enjoy the new style that you’ll see today and in the films to come.

Kristin + Matt || Wedding Highlight Film || San Clemente, CA

Hi friends! Hello to 2015! This was the first wedding were our full photo and video team were able to work together to create something special. Recently we’ve been seeing an influx of videographers into the industry and have noticed a generally accepted, safer, but yet beautiful style become the standard for artistic wedding films. With this influx, we found a need to evolve away from the industry standard and in our eyes stay one step ahead. This 2015 year we welcome something different, something we’ve been working hard on to bring change, edge, and out of the box thinking to our cinema style. I truly believe steps in this direction will compliment the original approach I truly hold closely to my heart when I first started our business. I think you may understand when you see it yourself. So cheers to a new year, a new beginning, and thank you so much for joining us along for the ride. And as always, please enjoy.

Photo teasers of this wedding can be found here.

@justinelement

Kristin and Matt’s wedding this past Saturday was definitely a day of firsts. First wedding of the year, first time shooting at the gorgeous St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church and The Casino event hall, and our first time trying out a new indie inspired shooting and editing style for a wedding. Kristin and Matt have spent the past year waiting for their special day to arrive, and in the morning when we asked how they were feeling, the only thing each of them could say was “excited.”

Well, we’re excited to finally get to share this highlight video with you, so you can relive the day through everyone else’s eyes. Thanks for inviting us to witness your love and celebrations. Enjoy!

Athena Alberto || Debut Preview

There’s a saying that goes something like “restrictions breed creativity,” and I can’t think of a better recent example than this Save the Date video we filmed for Athena Alberto’s 18th birthday. Her vision was a sort of scavenger hunt through Downtown Los Angeles, which — thanks to filming restrictions and the rain— required us to go completely guerrilla style — two cameras only, one monopod and one glidecam. The result was something a little different from what we normally do, but definitely something super unique, vibrant, and fun. Hope you guys like it!

Rachel Querido || Debut Highlight Film || Orange, CA

Happy first video of 2015! Well, technically this was our last video of 2014, an 18th birthday party filmed on December 28th, but it’s definitely the first in what I hope will be a long period of experimentation and growth in our work. We definitely tried out some new techniques and fine-tuned a few old ones, and I couldn’t be prouder of the final result. Thank you again Rachel for giving us the opportunity to share your special day. I can’t believe how much you’ve grown since I first met you over seven years ago, but you really have become an amazing, amazing young woman. Hope you love the video, happy birthday again, and please enjoy!

Kim + Norleo || Wedding Highlight Film || Costa Mesa, CA

It’s finally here, one of our very last video weddings of 2014 is done and can be seen here to help kick off our 2015 season. Kim and Norleo, one of our favorite couples who we had absolute fun with on their engagement photo session ended their year in a big way, tying the knot. It was a whole day event starting from their humble abode in Long Beach and ending at The Westin in Costa Mesa. Thank you Kim and Norleo for giving us the chance to cover two amazing people, we wish you the best in the New Year.

Melanie + Philip || Wedding Highlight Film || Claremont, CA

About three weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting the former miss Melanie Sabado — now Liwag — one late night after a long engagement session in San Diego. With just a week until her wedding, there was little room for uncertainty or beating around the bush, but we were lucky enough that Melanie already trusted us after seeing our team shoot before at previous weddings. And I’m so, so glad she did.

This one’s especially close to my heart as it’s the first wedding I’ve done both as editor and show-runner, and I’m ecstatic with how everything turned out. Melanie and Philip, thank you both for being so amazing. I’ve never met a couple who cared so much more about whether their guests were having a good time than themselves — or who so strongly believed that we as vendors counted as among those “guests.” I really hope you guys enjoy this highlight video as much as I enjoyed making it. I wish you the happiest of lives together. Congrats again!

Monica + Leo || Same Day Edit Wedding Highlight Film || Santa Monica, CA

Just thinking about Monica and Leo’s wedding this past Saturday still gives me a little rush remembering how beautiful the day was. From the gorgeously lit bridal suite with a view of the beach, to the breathtaking St. Monica’s church, all the way to the final dance and ribbon wand send-off, everything about this wedding was an absolute dream come true to shoot. Thank you Monica and Leo for making our jobs so easy, and please enjoy the night’s same day edit!

Carissa + Andrew || Wedding Highlight Film || Aliso Viejo, CA

It’s the third week of October and it’s finally starting to feel like fall. But just a couple weeks ago, the whole team got to spend one last, gorgeous, late-summer afternoon shooting Carissa and Andrew’s wedding at Soka University. Even though the temperatures were high, we were so lucky to have such a fun, goofy couple and wedding party in general. Funny story, as I was going through the clips for first dance, I heard this faint chant coming from one of the guest tables off camera, saying “We want babies! We want babies! Thrust your hips! Thrust your hips!”

So yeah, their outtake reel should be fun, haha. For now, please enjoy the highlight!
